YOU Achieve Your Mission &
Reach Your Maximum Potential.
THIS WEEK: RAGE
to provide training for your staff,
RAGE rears it's ugly head too frequently.
On roadways, at jobsites, in schools, at places of recreation.
You name the location and I'm sure you can find an example on the internet.
I would certainly call the mass killings that occur as RAGE induced.
But what is RAGE?
If you have been riding floor to floor on my Elevators
you know that I always, always demand a definition
before sensible discussion can begin.
I usually try to provide examples before providing my definitions so that
I ease you into the waters rather shoving you into the deep end.
For RAGE I can only begin at the deep end and move backwards into the shallows.
definition: RAGE is an
Illogical, counterproductive (often destructive) response
resulting from fear, anger or pseudoanger
fueled by feelings of powerlessness or personal insecurities.
The following example clearly illustrates this definition.
Look at a person who has a very minor car accident & is
afraid of being late for work, repair costs & a hit to his pride.
Unable or unwilling to look at his fear (considered a weakness)
he catapults into anger or pseudoanger & hits the other driver
resulting in arrest, jail, newspaper write-up & court.
He is now sure to be late.
His repair costs are nothing when compared to bail & attorney fees as well as lost wages.
His Pride & Reputation are damaged by a criminal record.
All of his actions are an illogical response to the situation.
Plug in any situation you want
it still fits the definition.
That's the problem. What's the solution?
We must begin to teach people that
fear is not a weakness;
that anger is not something to be substituted for fear.
We must teach people how to deal with anger when it does exist.
I really don't believe it is an overstatement to say that -
"our lives depend on it".
I don't rattle easily, but this topic rattles even me. How about you?
Breathe deeply, as am I to restore calm.
Breathe with me, in peace, Marta
Please forward/share this to others you know so they’ll grow right along with you.
