THIS WEEK: Action vs. Knowledge
Our Elevator this week will explore the concept of
action vs. knowledge.
We are starting with a question.
Between the two which do you believe is more important -
Action (defined as - to do) or Knowledge (defined as - to understand)?
Believe me as I tell you that ACTION is the more valuable.
When you throw a rock or board into a pond what do you get?
Correct, circular ripples, not rectangles or triangles.
I doubt you know the physics that cause them (I don't)
& yet you get circular ripples anyway.
It's not knowledge or understanding that creates them,
it is the ACTION of your throw.
To gain knowledge ACTION is required:
to read, to ask, to listen, to experiment.
Without ACTION there is no knowledge.
In fact, knowledge can prevent ACTION.
I like flying in airplanes
and know nothing of the mechanics that allow them to fly.
I don't want to know.
Knowledge would create a fear that would likely stop me from flying again.
So stop waiting for knowledge that may lead to paralysis.
What one knows changes nothing without action.
What one does can change everything.
Action is the doing that creates change
and may lead to learning or understanding;
what one does.
Even a step back (action) is not a backward step
when it gets you where you want to go.
Take a step (action), evaluate (action) your new understanding or knowledge and plan (action) your next step (another action).
